Valuable and concise

"The Wellness Mindset" is a valuable book that combines a wealth of nutritional wisdom with a variety of other recommendations for wellness. Although I've been educating myself about healthy eating for decades, this book opened my eyes to quite a few things I wasn't aware of before. Tracy Kay has really done her homework, and the evidence is in the credible and respectable sources she cites as well as her own return to health.

In addition to the nutritional particulars, I also appreciated her messages about self-value, self-care, and exercise as well as the extremely important information she offers about how to choose health-care advisors who will support true healing and wellness. "The Wellness Mindset" also includes a valuable section on what to do if you're diagnosed with a serious illness. This book is short enough to not overwhelm people looking for important next steps while also being packed with beneficial suggestions.

I'm glad I bought this book!

I have life-threatening blood blots in my lungs and in my legs. My body has to destroy the blood clots and absorb them: that's the only way to get rid of them. I's pretty obvious that my body needs all the help it can get! I heard about Tracy's book from a friend. I read in a couple hours. It's plainly written by an ordinary person who is walking the walk; not by a professional who is only talking the talk. I am incorporating Tracy's ideas into my life at my own pace. It is definitely helping me help myself. By the way, Tracy has a Facebook page. I sent her a message and she got back to me. Nice woman who really does care.

Quick, Clean, Concise

This is a concise (but not short) book detailing a plan to get in shape. There is a very solid section in the front about what to eat and what not to eat, along with recipes and meal plans.

Then there is a long list of different 15-minute workouts to complete, and mix and match as you see fit. The book focuses on butt, legs and back shaping.

If you have 15 minutes a day, and the willpower to eat healthy, this book will certainly help you on your way.

This is a good book for those who want to look good not only from behind, but from all sides. It talks about eating right, going into some detail about foods good and bad for you. Than it explains the need and the method of proper workout, starting with the beginner’s but shaping and lifting workout to advanced level of the same. There is more useful information here, but to learn details, I recommend you read this book.

He gives practical, easy to understand tips on complicated subjects, including managing everyday stress, mental health issues, and addictions, both serious and those that are simple annoyances in people's lives.     I enjoyed this book

    I enjoyed this book. The material is presented in a no nonsense, easy to understand way, including good reasons why you might want to go through the work of changing your life. Gary's method does not require a lot of study, which is a great help to someone who is struggling and has enough on his plate already. You could see some immediate relief that would only improve with practice. Gary uses examples from his own life and struggles to help you understand the process. These examples show that Gary understands what it is like to have things you want to improve about yourself, and he gives you the tools and encouragement to do it. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to improve how they feel inside or just wants to explore what is possible with a new perspective.

    Easy to understand

    I received a copy of this book through the Goodreads First Reads giveaway program in the hopes that I would leave an honest review.

    I don't read a lot of self-help books, but this one was short and started off sounding potentially helpful, like for real. Who wouldn't want to find ways to better deal with the stress in their life?

    I found the arrangement of this book a little odd. The first chapter talks about meditating daily and then told me to stop reading and practice that for a week (I'm not good at doing what I'm told and didn't listen.) The next chapter then talks about fitting the meditation into your lifestyle sort of. I really think that information would have been helpful before I spent an imaginary week meditating like the first chapter told me to. I'm also pretty sure the author and I lead very different lives, because I don't see any of his suggestions being useful for me personally. He does stress several times that these are methods he used so for someone that isn't a stay-at-home mom responsible for most of the childcare and housework, they probably do work. I am going to give them a shot, but I'm going to have to figure out how to fit them into my life on my own, because this book really didn't provide guidance for that.

    Overall I give this book 4 out of 5 stars because the explanations and instructions are easy to understand and follow. This rating may change after I put these suggestions into practice.

    This book is a MUST READ!

    I have been waiting for a book like this for a long time: inspirational in finishing life strong and filled with illustrative photographs that make the author's points come to life. This book will inspire you to use all the Lord has taught you thus far to advance in your faith. You'll find yourself energized in waiting for God to move mountains that have refused to budge in the past. I just received the book and I'm already on the last chapter. I could not wait to order a signed copy for a relative. Bruce does a great job painting a visual picture of what it looks like to press on into the pages of eternity and make your life count. It's a must read for every follower of Christ who desires to leave a powerful legacy.

    Finish Well

    A senior executive at Focus on the Family, seminary graduate, and seasoned Christian, there was every reason to think that Bruce Peppin should have scaled the mountains of midlife with skill and enthusiasm. However, with his marriage and his family relationships deeply broken and his faith in God taking a nose dive, he realized that he had veered off course. His journey out of despair and defeat is the basis for The Best Is Yet to Be: Moving Mountains in Midlife, his five-part course correction manual for those of us who are hiking through or toward midlife. Just as a mountain climber keeps her eye on the summit, the goal of midlife is to finish well and in accordance with Peppin’s well-framed definition:

    “To finish life in right relationship to my God, spouse, family, fellow man, and the work He gave me to do.”

    With “gray divorce” at an all-time high, long-term marriage is no longer a given apart from the grace of God and a commitment to faithfulness. Peppin shares vulnerably how the Lord of the Breakthrough turned his own marriage around. Sin and poor judgment calls from the past have a way of cropping up in midlife. One’s own morality looms large, and this question even larger: How have I spent the life God has given?

    Using powerful metaphors but plain speech, Peppin challenges his readers to follow six principles for decisions, relationships, and mindset that are essential for midlife, but helpful to have mastered beforehand. (The sooner the better!)
    1.Heroic invisibility: Living a life of integrity before an audience of One requires a realization that recognition is not the priority — honoring God is the path to true self-esteem.
    2.Famous in heaven: Living according to the standards of heaven, for applause from a heavenly stadium, yields right priorities.
    3.Decades not days: Taking a long view toward preparation for future assignments and accepting His timing acknowledges and bows to the sovereignty of God.
    4.Be ready: Assess readiness for scaling spiritual mountains by answering the following life-changing question: “If God was looking for someone to use on an important assignment for the kingdom, would you be the one He’d choose, given your present attitude, behavior, and choices?”
    5.Drink the cup: Climbing mountain peaks over fourteen thousand feet, Peppin has honed traits of dedication and perseverance. It is tempting to quit before reaching the summit. In the same manner, honoring commitments to the Lord requires the discipline of determination.
    6.Faithful to the end: Inspiring testimonies of mentors and historical figures who endured despite obstacles and finished their course in faithfulness to God drive home the point and provide powerful motivation and inspiration.

    Apart from Christ, the uphill journey of middle age could seem discouraging and pointless, but the power of God’s Word can transform feelings of rejection, fear, and failure into powerful Christ-exalting expressions of God’s sufficiency. The Best Is Yet to Be challenges the reader to look beyond this life to consider the importance of a godly legacy. As Randy Alcorn has said, “Our present life on earth is the dot. It begins. It ends. It’s brief. But from that dot extends a line that goes on forever. That line is eternity which Christians will spend in heaven . . . Live for the line, not for the dot.” Peppin’s book stopped me in my tracks one afternoon as I considered the outcomes of finishing well: a life of integrity, courage and reward. There is food for thought here, but, more importantly, there is grist for one’s prayer life. “Lord, help me to remember, as I walk through midlife, that there is no reward on earth that can compare with Your well-done.”

    Hope in Dealing with Midlife Problems

    Midlife (and life in general) is tough. Parenting, marriage, finances, spirituality. So many people with so many opinions (and a lot of them bad opinions). THANKFULLY, there's Bruce and The Best is Yet To Be.

    Bruce does a great job of walking you through these struggles, letting you know it's ok (and normal) to go through them, and offers practical advice on how to navigate (and win) in these areas of your life.

    A job well done

    I like this book because it has made tricky information simple and put it in an order that is easy to read and easy to implement. I knew most of this stuff already from years of reading up on this topic but putting it all together simply is where this little ebook succeeds as I did not. I was able to read this in one sitting and still take the information on board which I also think is perfect.

    This is not just a book about diet and exercise but a book of inspiration. It certainly has all the elements of an excellent and concise guide to a healthy lifestyle but the message and context is much more profound. An excellent guide to many aspects of leading a full healthy life!

    The book “12 Steps to a New You Forever” written by F.M. Torres and Ashleigh Gass is an unusual view of fitness. It is not about how to lose massive amounts of weight or what weights should be lifted to become ‘buff’. It is, an incredibly simple, approach to building and maintaining a healthy body. There are a great number of simple and logical ideas to burn fat and build muscle which, in turn, creates the kind of healthy body I want. I’ve read the 65 page book three times, and each time I note some simple idea that I had missed during the earlier readings. The book not only discusses eating and exercising thoughts, It discusses how to sleep better, stretching and ways to increase flexibility. This little book is a powerful aid for me, a man in my late 60’s, to maintain my weight and muscle without having to buy into a highly advertised television program prescribing how to stay healthy.

    Excellent advice!

    Inflammation is rampant in our bodies and most of the time we have no idea. We just know we feel bad. This is a great kick start guide to finding some of the causes of that inflammation. When you find the place of better health it's pricelrss.

    Dr. Chance explains chronic inflammation in a way that is easy to understand. I never knew how bad fats, toxins, and sugar actually affected our body and cells. Very eye opening!

    Just a list of obvious statements

    Really? This book is just a short list of obvious statements like you are more likely to convince someone if you are well groomed than wearing a dirty T-shirt... I purchased it based on the description and good reviews, but I doubt the reviews are real. If they are, sorry guys. I respect your opinion, but for me, this book is useless.

    Great guide on persuasion!

    I enjoyed reading this book on persuasion. The author starts by showing us how important it is to understand your audience, something that often gets forgotten. There is also interesting chapters on the basics of persuasion, persuasion through precise timing and the use of connotation and triggers. The author convinced me after reading this book, that persuasion is an art that you can work on and improve. This book has all the information you need to do just that and have awesome persuasion skills. I especially like the tips for psychological persuasion. A must reading for anyone needing to sell something either be it services, goods or even yourself. The book is well written and easy to follow and understand. Highly recommended reading.

    Amazing book! Grady Roche begins with the most basics of persuasion, up to useful tips. Most of us have a lot of difficulty persuading others, because we don't understand how persuasion works, the theory behind it. Grady does a good job breaking persuasion in into its finest details...
