An honest, personal, and hopeful tale about a journey to the end of life

I would recommend this book to anyone who will ever face death themselves or who knows someone who will face death. (Yes, I think that's everyone!) This is an honest and hopeful narrative of one man's journey through cancer, finally losing the weight he always hoped he would lose, buying his dream car, and setting his affairs in order. He reminds us of many things we might think we know -- the role of attitude, paring down, living with love -- but he means every word. The perspectives of other family members are also a valuable part of this book.

Thank you for sharing this experience of Cholangiocarcinoma. I felt it was a very heartfelt and honest depiction of the strife involved with this illness. It was helpful to me, as my father had been diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma and currently is undergoing a palliative treatment. Similar to the nature of your family; my dad also has a wife and three adult daughters, and each of us can relate to similar aspects of your family's experience. A wonderful read for any family dealing with sudden onset of a severe illness. I'm sorry for your family's struggle and admire the strength of character it took to document the human side of this illness while undergoing treatment. Thank you.

Inspiring Read by an Inspiring Man

Eric shows his drive and passion as fervently as ever in his final few years of life with this book. Direct, honest, moving, touching, including and especially the chapters by his family. Concise and to the point, yet with nuance and covering all bases, Eric's skill for sizing up a situation and addressing the important issues with clarity and grace, and without meandering is clearly shown in this wonderful book.
It was an inspiring read, written by an inspiring man!
