    I often have a few days in a week that I don’t feel like eating so much and there are days when I want to indulge! I heard about the 5:2 diet from a friend at work and decided to pick this book and give it a try. Basically its a intermittent fasting diet, and is a great strategy to losing weight allowing you to eat normally for 5 days and low calories for 2 days. I personally enjoyed the easy and simple recipes! There are many tips listed inside on how to lose weight and what you should be eating while on this diet. I love how the author included breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner recipes listed inside. I give this book five stars out of five because I really learned a lot by reading it.

    I was really disappointed with this book which is basically a summary of the much better book by Michael Mosley, the doctor who developed and researched the 5:2 diet plan. Save your money and buy his book instead. This was more like a brochure, and I got SO much more out of Mosley's book called THE FAST DIET.

    The 5:2 diet is about intermittent fasting, which is an interesting concept based on the idea that the human body was designed for both feast and famine. This diet suggests cutting calorie intake to one quarter of normal on two non-consecutive days each week for long term health benefits and weight loss. Calorie counting is only required two days a week and it’s a very simple program overall. Scientific evidence is listed to back up the claims made here, and the book wisely recommends checking with your doctor before beginning the program. High intensity training is also part of the plan, so tips for that are provided here, as well as some low calorie recipes to try on your fast days.
