The perfect guide to understanding both your human and spiritual selves!

It wasn't until I read Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat, Pray, Love" that I started to understand God in a way that made sense to me. In particular, this quote spoke to me: "God dwells within you, as you yourself, just the way you are." Up until that point, not only didn't I believe in God, I didn't UNDERSTAND God. Since then, I've been on a quest to understand God, knowing that it's also a journey to truly understanding myself, which, in turn, helps me understand and serve others.
Dr. Avery's book provides wonderful examples (and questions that I could answer for myself) that deepened my understanding how God dwells within me AS me...and in others as they are. It also promotes personal responsibility in a way that feels empowering rather than burdensome or preachy.
I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to dive deep and understand themselves better, especially within the context of spirituality (which I came to later in life).

This is a great self-help book. The stories are interesting and I can relate to some of them as a friend or assisting in a caretaker's role. The exercises were quite beneficial as they were thought provoking and attitude changing. By reading this book and completing the exercises, I moved forward in making tough decisions that I dreaded partly because of the impact they might have on others thus negatively impacting my personal well-being. I was able to move beyond that fear that was holding me captive. I've given copies as gifts and recommended the book to others.
