Excellent

This book is excellent! I could identify with the signs and symptoms the author describes. In fact, I could answer "yes" to almost all of the red flag questions. This is a truly terrible addiction that can be well-hidden by the addict. Unlike an alcoholic or drug addict, I didn't see any outward physical signs of this addiction on my soon-to-be ex-husband, but the emotional toll it took on our marriage was devastating. After all, he was a church-going man and he would always tell everyone that he was "just a humble guy." He had two failed marriages before me, but I didn't know the warning signs. Only after we were married did I find out about a long-standing history of depression and anxiety. I made it through 3-1/2 awful years. Trust is key in marriage and this addiction makes that impossible. He denied pornography viewing when we were together, but a few months after we separated and while he was working with a psychiatrist, he admitted to me he had struggled with "images" since he was 15 or 16, but told me that our church leaders make a much bigger deal out of "it" than it really is. He would tell me that I didn't cut my hair right or dress right, and that I wasn't attractive according to the world. Looking back, I realize that I didn't look like his porno women (thank goodness). When he finally confessed to his problem with "images" (he wouldn't call it porn), he said most LDS women (and I submit that most women regardless of their religious affiliation) won't have anything to do with a man who looks at porn so he couldn't tell women he was dating (or before he married me) that he struggled with this problem. The statistics in the book are alarming--80% of men view porn regularly. My ex is back out there again and he's not dealing with the problem and by his own admission, he doesn't tell the women he dates. This book is helpful in discussing the red flags and the deception, dysfunction, betrayal and trauma of living with an addict. It also provides suggestions for an action plan. Research now shows that the porn addict's brain is actually altered, and the addict uses porn to self-medicate their emotional issues. At a counselor' recommendation, I left and eventually filed for divorce. This book will help you identify the red flags and the issues so that you can recognize an addict before you become entangled in their web of lies and deceit.

MY WIFE GAVE ME THIS BOOK, KNOWING THAT I WATCH PORN. I WAS AMAZED AT THE IMPLICATIONS WATCHING PORN HAS NOT ONLY ON MY PHYSICAL BRAIN, BUT ALL THE HARM IT CAN DO IN A MARRIAGE. THIS BOOK WAS A WAKE-UP CALL FOR ME. I DIDN'T CONSIDER MYSELF AN ADDICT UNTIL I READ THIS BOOK. I WISH I HAD KNOWN THE GRIEF THIS ADDICTION CAUSES IN A FAMILY.
I WISH THERE WAS A WARNING LABLEL ON EVERY PORN SITE, IN FACT THIS ADDICTION IS SO WIDESPREAD, AND CAUSES SO MUCH TROUBLE FOR SOCIETY, THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD PASS A LAW REQUIRING SPECIFIC INFORMATION BE INCLUDED ON SUCH A WARNING LABEL.
I'M JUST SORRY THAT I WASN'T AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS THIS ADDICTION CAUSES. I WILL NOW SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP.

I liked this book alot. I just found out about my husbands addiction and this book was a fast easy read that I appreciated.
